Tennis Clothes Should Be Comfortable
You have been playing tennis on and off over the years and have finally decided to get more serious about the game. You figure you can kill two birds with one stone by getting your exercise while doing something you like. Now, you set off to get yourself ready to play.
As always, you want to look your best, after all, you have always been a great dresser. The decision now is ‘what should I wear when playing tennis?’ Do I need special outfits similar to what pros like the Williams sisters wear or can I just wear casual clothing? Bottom line is that the decision is yours to make.
You can purchase a complete outfit made by any major manufacturer of sporting goods. These include Nike, Adidas, Prince, Wilson, Head, Babolat, Balle de Match, and there still many more out there selling good products.
If you do not want to invest in the special clothes, think comfortable. Your outfit should be loose and flowing as you will be running back and forth, jumping up and down and twisting in every direction as you try to hit the ball. Maybe you will want to just wear the clothes you already have in your closet or to purchase ones-either works as long as you can move freely around the court.
If you join a group or a club and play as a team together, you may need to purchase a team uniform.
Your group will select an outfit that may include a top, shorts, socks and jacket or a special short dress with socks and a jacket-monograms are also available and you can even add the team?s name to the back of the outfit.
If you have joined a tennis club, you may want to stop by periodically to see what other people are wearing. I am not saying that you should try to ‘keep up with the Jones’ here, but there may be an ‘unspoken’ dress code for players. You should be able to figure that out without embarrassing yourself by showing up inappropriately dressed.
Take time to go out and shop around for your outfit. If you do not have a lot of spare time or you hate to think about spending time at the mall on your day off, look on the internet. Just type in ‘tennis clothing’ and you will be amazed at the number of different web sites that will be listed.
Go through a few of these sites to get an idea of what you want-this is probably the quickest and easiest way to see literally hundreds of different options in just a few minutes. You can even order your outfit without every leaving your home-it can even be delivered directly to your door for you to wear.
Find the outfit you like and that you are comfortable in. Play tennis with your friends, make new acquaintances, schmooze with potential clients, and just enjoy yourself. You are out with people and getting exercise and you look and feel great.

Tennis Court Racketeers
Tennis is a great sport, but not without a few foibles. Tennis was a game I remember playing from a very young age. Not really sure, what prompted me to pick up the game, but my younger brother and I use to head over to the local public tennis courts quite a few times during our summer vacation. Quite a few very competitive matches ensued during those long summer days, and a number of them evolved into some very competitive and verbal matches. Ala John Mcenroe vs Jimmy Conners kinda stuff. Not the same tennis skill level of course, but some of the tennis style disagreements certainly did. There are a few things that are kind of annoying about the game of tennis, especially whey you play at the very beginning skill level. One has to be learning to hit a decent tennis serve. Certainly tricky, hitting the ball with just the right power to get it over the next, and still land it in that itty bitty little square of a service box. Certainly makes you look in awe at the tennis pros, as they pound the tennis balls at over 100 miles per hour just barely over the net, and paint the lines of the service box. Of course thousands of hours with a tennis racket in your hands hitting balls till there are callouses on your callouses helps develop a great tennis serve.
Tennis Serving Wenches
The other thing that kind of annoys me about tennis, is all the time spent chasing errant balls. All those tennis shots, that should have been great, but somehow ended up flying over the fence, orwhacking the guy two courts over, or the really sneaking ones that zipped out under the hole in the fence into the big bunch of bushes. I think every tennis court, public or otherwise, should come with a full time staff of ball boys or ball girls. I love watching those kids on the big televised matches running around fetching balls, handing out towels, at the beck and call of the players. As I’ve gotten older, and hadchildren, I’ve tried to encourage them to take up the fine and honorable of career of tennis ball girls, but to no avail. There must be something about chasing all my wild tennis shots, that just doesn’t appeal to youngsters these days.
Tennis Graduation Days
I don’t play a whole lot of tennis these days. Occasionally I’ll play with friends and family while on vacation, or at resorts that have tennis courts available. I’ve taken up other racket sport activities. Played racquetball for a while before moving on to the game of squash. There is something to be said for playing in a court with no net, and no chance of the ball slipping under or over the fence. Helps to save my energy for running down my opponents shots, instead of traipsing through a pack of bushes look for that pink tennis ball, that should be oh so easy to find. Although, I’d have to thank my early days on the tennis courts to develop my affinity for other racket sports. Their all fun in their own way, a great game to play with family, and quite a racket.

Tennis Tip
Have you ever feel frustrated because you cannot achieve the target that you set in a tennis competition when you work so much in your tennis practice? Does this sound familiar? It’s five all in the second set in a tennis match, you’ve won the first set in a tiebreaker, and then you loose your serve. The set lose and so does the tennis match. You just can’t understand why. Every time you wanting to attack the tennis ball but you hesitated with negative thoughts? Did you get furious with yourself that it was impossible to control your action during a tennis match? If you are facing the same problems, then you are suffering from the weakening effects of stress and anxiety. Fortunately, there are some tips and techniques that are taught to deal with this stress and anxiety.
The basic tip when dealing with stress during a tennis match is to get yourself into the optimum level of arousal to perform at your best. There is a correlation between physical arousal and efficiency of performance. The tip shows that you can perform a task best at a level of arousal and how that performance deteriorates when arousal levels go uncontrolled. For complex tasks like tennis, you need a lower level of emotion than you would need for a simple task (like brushing your teeth).
What does all this mean? Firstly, being nervous before a tennis match isn’t a bad thing and may actually be good for you. You should tell yourself that this tennis match is going to be a very excited experience rather than an anxiety. Beside, tell yourself that you are ready to fight for the glory in the tennis match. Second tip is it is important that you can control the level of arousal to a lower level. You can achieve it through the use of relaxation techniques. 2 examples are breathing control and muscle tension release. The tip to control your breathing is you need to be able to observe the reactions of your body while you breathe slowly and deeply. Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and start to concentrate on breathing in. While doing this, notice how breathing in positively energizes you, and as you then breathe out, you’re calmed and centered totally on yourself. Another tip in doing the relaxation technique is starts off with 3 minutes and work up to 15 as you get better. During the process, count your breaths up to 10 then start over again and keep this exercise. Free your mind; focus on the numbers and the body’s reactions. Another important tip here, you can do this exercise sitting between the tennis games or on tennis court during play in order to escape from unnecessary thoughts. Concentrate on connecting your breathing with your movement and hits in the tennis game. Remember, in order to get the most effective from this technique, you must practice this in the tennis training.
Tip here is to release the muscle tension takes some time to learn. You should notice that every time you are stressed and nervous, your body reacts with tension. Your shoulder tense up and your jaw becomes tighten. Now, you can see the connection between body and soul. Releasing and relaxing of the muscles “tells” your brain to relax mentally. Important tip to remember here is to start with 15 minutes a day tensing up your muscle and then totally relaxing them. Release your anxiety as you relax after the tensing phase. Start from your head and finish with your feet going through all the muscles as you go. Try to identify the differences in the 2 states.
With this technique you will learn how to identify tension and then release it, at will, even on tennis court to allow you to achieve your full potential. The key tip here is to be patient as these new skills take time to learn and refine. Remind yourself that every step you take is going to help you play the tennis game you love better and become a more powerful tennis player.
May your dream come true,
Max
